When I heard the click of the door, I rolled on my back and draped an arm over my eyes. Last night hadn’t just been amazing, it had been everything I’d imagined and more. From the moment Shelly had told me about the woman who was the inspiration behind the piece of art I’d bought, I knew I had to not only meet her but be with her. I wanted to know what the muse behind such an expressive painting was like.

An unexpected tear escaped my eye and dripped onto the pillow. Wow, I thought as I wiped the wetness off my cheek, what’s that about? It wasn’t like I hadn’t gotten what I’d come for. I did. But on the way to fulfilling my fantasy, a piece of my heart had gotten in the way.

“Fuck,” I mumbled, that expressive word that seemed to have so many meanings. This trip wasn’t supposed to be about anything more than meeting Lexi and returning the queen of hearts. True, I’d fantasized about having sex with her, and the fact that we had was a beautiful bonus.

“Don’t go down this road.” I reminded myself of the promise I’d made after my messy and costly divorce from Samantha: be a free spirit for a while and just have fun. And that was exactly what last night had been. Consensual adult fun.

“Don’t muck it up, Molly. You got more than what you came for.” I exhaled a long breath, calmed my heart, and scooted to the spot on the bed that still held not only her warmth but her scent. I rolled on my side and tried to relax my mind, then flipped on my back, then turned to the other side. “Oh…my…God,” I barked to myself as I threw the covers off, meandered to the dresser, unpackaged the vibrating wand, and brought it back to bed. If this was any indication of how hard it was going to be to get Lexi out of my mind, I thought as I hit the power switch and lowered the vibrator between my legs, I was in trouble.

I stretched in the bed as I woke, feeling refreshed and relaxed. The sun was peeking through the blinds, and I could tell by its intensity that it was already mid-morning. I reached for the nightstand, retrieved my cell phone, and activated it.

“Holy shit,” I grunted as the digits informed me it was almost ten o’clock. Wow, I couldn’t even remember the last time I’d slept in this late. Then again, I couldn’t remember the last time I’d pulled an all-nighter of sex either.

I yawned, scrubbed my fingers through my hair, and reached for the resort’s landline. I had booked the suite for another night, and since it had been years since I’d last been in Las Vegas, I decided to spend the day on the boulevard eating, shopping, and gambling my way through several casinos. I hit the button for the front desk, and a cheery woman’s voice greeted me and asked how she could help.
